Honey Bees are now considered "livestock" like poultry, pigs, and cattle. New FDA regulations on antibiotic use in all food producing animals is now under the supervision of veterinarians. Antibiotic resistance is a public health concern and these new regulations are intended to ensure the judicious use of medically important antibiotics.
